Joo Siah Bak Koot Teh

After some disappointing outing with my number 1 Bak Kut Teh.I Have been hearing about this stall for sometime now.Heard this stall's owner, learned his trade from his famous brother in law who is the owner of the famous, popluar stall at Sing Ming.

I ordered bak kut teh and ter ka and veges.

They gave us regular BKT,with chopped up pieces without any long ribs. The chopped ribs had quite a bit of fats on it.The ribs was soft, tender, easliy parts when teared. The soup stock was Teochew style, clear, peppery but not overly peppery. So you get taste quite strong in flavour of pork broth, without the over powering taste of the pepperVery nice,tasty.$4.50

Not contend with the regular size ribs,I asked if they had the long ribs long. For me bak kut teh if they had long ribs,it is must be long ribs in my order.Nowadays it seems like if you do not ask for long ribs it is automatically, regular short piece ribs.Maybe my mistake for not asking for the long ribs in the first place.

2 long ribs were served. It was very meaty with some layer of fats in between. It was soft, very tender, easily parts without much afford..It was just plain heaven. It seems a better value than the cut up regular ribs.Even the soup stock tasted better with the long ribs in it.$7.00

Ter Ka $5.50.It was single, huge portion. With good amount of meat, fats and skin.the whole thing was super tender, super soft, yet it did not have the over soggy, over cooked feel at all.The sauce blend very nicely. It tasted almost as the Rong Cheng ter ka,maybe better, here with right amount of salt and everything working in it's favour. Surely one of the better,Ter Ka's around.

Preserved Veges.$1.00.Portion was good, taste was nice.

Braised peanut.$1.00.Portion was good. Not overly cooked just right, soft with bite to it.Nice.

The Bak Kut Teh broth is almost identical to that of Rong Chen from Sing Ming, when they were my favourite then.Only the only difference,I would say is amount of pepper in it.But flavour of the pork broth was siok enough.
Overall a very good Bak Kut Teh,and the Ter ka is certainly a must.Worth a another trip...
